My Autumn Challenge is:
Today I have discovered this lovely video, very in the flow, yet with some challenging positions. My favourite arm balancing and opening shoulders positions which I need.
I definitely want to become fluent in it so that I can enjoy the real pleasure of the sequence as I have learned it here.
Let me know, what your Autumn Challenge is!
#1 Love Surya Namaskar? Autumn Equinox is the perfect day to boost your practise. And do it 108 times. Why?
To be honest, I never loved Surya Namaskar thaaat much. Seemed too complicated to harmonise breath and the postures. Always felt like a snake out of breath that was trying to catch up at pilates lesson.
Until one day. And that was the day I decided to do 108 sequences. It was Autumn equinox. Other special they to concentrate on this and boost your practise a bit is - surprise! - spring equinox.
Because this number is sacred in Yoga and Hinduism
Nowadays people gather to do "Yogathlons" to support the peace in the world or simply do this for local charity.
I did it this time for myself (not very Ahimsic, though :) And at the end I felt re-born, reconnected and the most of it, I started to love this sequence.
It's good to challenge yourself sometime!
The story of: The most unquestioned yet completely wrong mantra of the Western World? I will tell you.
Mantra that is being immensely overrated. So tempting. So encourageous. Yet completely wrong. I bet you too are hypnotised by it. Without knowing it. Ok, ok, I can hear you frowning and impatinetly knocking on the table desk. I am being nice now. I will tell you what it is.
And it is just one word.
The word is: Traveling.
Yes. You probably don't agree. But this exactly is the sign that you really are under influence of this dangerous mantra. Let's get some treatement now.
FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE
Stand still and repeat that word. TRAVELING. What does it say exactly?
Travel = go somewhere. Leave the place you are now.
There are three unpronounced hypothesis behind this word
1) You are not happy/content/fullfilled/whatever where you are now. In order to be happy/whatever you have to leave this place and go to another.
2) This place you are now cannot teach you anything. You have to go to another place to learn/grow/shine/whatever
3) This place you are now is simply a failure and you should go.
PAY ATTENTION... CONSUMERISM EVERYWHERE!
Simply said: this word claims that you are not happy with what you have and you became happier/better... when you will travel. Now pay attention: Isn't this exactly what the whole consumerism industry is about? Isnt this all consum thing selling us stuff because at first place we need it because without it we are not ok?
And isn't this exactly the opposite of yoga philosophy? Yoga says: look inside you to learn.
Once I came to this conclusion I was shocked. Is travel really so bad? You know, it sounds strange because I am the last one to dislike traveling. I have been traveling a lot and dreaming about even more travels...
One day, out of a sudden, I realised I do not need to travel anymore. I was happy exactly at the place I was.
BRAVE YOURSELF - YOGA STEP II
I think this was the day I really set on the journey called yoga, step II - from outside asanas to inner world.
I came to this conclusion in an ugly bathroom, with no hot water in, miles away from my kids and family, locked in a room with lazy cats and busy mice. No matter I started dreaming about home and at the same time hating traveling :)
Anyway – there is really something wrong with the travel mantra isn't it? The mouse is sneaking here again!
#2 I AM HAPPY WHERE I AM NOW
Sometimes something strong must really comes to shake you and wake you from the daily routines and move your life further. For me, this was the 2016 Summer Italian Earthquakes. Yes, quite a recent event. Terremoto in Italia, my turnover experience, yes.
It not only quaked this lovely beautiful country, the country of my heart. It also quaked with my bed during the dreadfull night. And since then - I feel different. I am different, I dare say.
LIFE IS A FRAGILE MIRACLE. My ears, eyes and soul remind me this everyday.
This is why I started this page. To note for myself (as I tend to forget things, names, events and key moment of my life) and share with you my thoughts and miracles I encounter in my (yoga) life. Because when practising yoga, chnages slowly penetrate not only your body constitution but also in your mind. And from your mind to your relationships, and from there to your job etc. And this is why I became the YogaGirl.
I am Mia and this page is to share with you bits and pieces from my yoga way of life and everything that it involves. I share with you my first steps, asanas, thoughts and every progress so that you too can feel inspired and set on the adventurous discovers of yourself, yoga and the secret of happy life. Let's get on the vibrant life journey together!
